Find a Suffolk County tax map number
Builds the SCTM number from the property’s section, block and lot on the New York State assessment roll and the county’s district for its town or village.
How to read an SCTM number
A full Suffolk County Tax Map number has four parts, written like 0200-123.00-01.00-004.000:
- District (
0200): the town, or the village within it. Each of the ten towns has a district ending in 00, and each village has its own. - Section (
123.00): a numbered sheet of the district’s tax map. - Block (
01.00): a block on that sheet. - Lot (
004.000): the parcel itself. The decimal places number parcels created later, for instance when a lot is subdivided.
Town tax bills and assessment rolls often leave the district off and write the rest short, like 123.-1-4; the district is implied by which town or village the property is in. The same section, block and lot can exist in a town and in one of its villages, so the district is what makes the number unique county-wide.

Where to see the official tax maps
Suffolk’s tax maps are kept by the county’s Real Property Tax Service Agency, and parcels can be viewed online through Suffolk County GIS. Your town assessor and Receiver of Taxes use the same number on your assessment and tax bill.
To see what a property pays and which school district it’s in, look it up with the property tax calculator; for school district boundaries and median bills across Long Island, see the Long Island tax map.
Frequently asked questions
What is an SCTM number?
The Suffolk County Tax Map number: district, section, block and lot. It identifies one parcel on the county’s tax maps and is used on deeds, tax bills, assessment records and grievance forms.
How do I find my Suffolk County tax map number?
Type your address into the lookup above. It’s also on your tax bill and your deed, and in your town assessor’s records.
Is the tax map number the same as the section, block and lot?
Almost: the section, block and lot are the last three parts. The SCTM adds the district in front, which says which town or village the parcel is in. See section, block and lot.
Why does my tax bill show a different-looking number?
Town bills often drop the district and the trailing zeros, so 0200-123.00-01.00-004.000 can appear as 123.-1-4. They are the same parcel.
